Offbeat in General is a true mom-and-pop general store, where owners David and Megan work alongside staff to toast sandwiches, stock shelves, and expedite service on a daily basis.

All are encouraged to apply to Offbeat in General. Resume experience can be varied. However, we do give priority to those with some experience in food, or community service.

Experience in community service can come in the form of volunteer work with your sorority or fraternity, coaching at the local activity center, work at your family church, fostering dogs or cats, or even cooking for your mom on weekends.

We include this for two reasons: 1) because not everyone has formal job experience (such as those still in highschool), and 2) active volunteership is generally a great indicator of someone who is a people-person.

While working at Offbeat, you will learn how to run all aspects of the store. This includes The Front, where orders are taken and you will engage with customers, as well as The Back, where we cut meat and cheese, make sauces, and assemble sandwiches.

Additionally, we encourage our college-age staff to take on additional tasks, such as updating Instagram or inputting products into our Toast system. Megan’s professional background in commercial art and digital media make her uniquely positioned to assist those fleshing out their resumes for graduation.
